A message from Sue Lawley, our President

This is Budleigh Salterton’s second literary festival. We’re building on the success of last year’s event in which some of Britain’s best known writers visited our town to share their writing experiences with us. Once again we’ve attracted many distinguished names. I’m confident that this year’s festival will be one to remember.
Our festival is called “Writing by the Sea” because the sea has always attracted people who want to write — and, for that matter, those who want to sit quietly and read as well. We believe that Budleigh Salterton is the perfect place in which to enjoy the pleasures of the book. That’s a view shared by many others, judging by the number of people who attended last year’s events and the roll-call of writers who have agreed to join us this year.
So please come and join us for what promises to be a special weekend immersed in the glory of words. If you like reading, or writing, or listening, or talking, or just being somewhere where all these things are going on around you, the Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival is the place where you will want to be. Its activities and atmosphere will refresh you as much as the sea breeze blowing along its beautiful coastline.
Welcome to our town where from the 24th to the 26th September 2010 words will flow like wine.
