Exhibitions

The Brook Gallery will hosts an exceptional and historical exhibition, The Illustrators, celebrating 200 years of the English illustrative tradition.

The exhibition will include some of the best known illustrators including Rowlandson, Teniel, Rackham, Ardizzone, Shepherd, Greenaway, Searle and Quentin Blake.

All book sales and signings will be organised by Blackwell (Exeter University book shop) during the period of the Festival events.

In collaboration with the National Trust, Jeremy Musson will be speak at 11.30am Friday 24 September 2010 on Travels Around Curious Houses.

Tickets (£7.50 to include wine and canapés) for this event will be sold by the National Trust tel 01395 265514 and attendance limited to 30 people.

FILM: The Last Station

The film will be introduced by Stuart Yerrell.

To end the 2010 Festival we are screening The Last Station – the film about the life and death of Leo Tolstoy. Both Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer were nominated for awards by the U.S. Academy (Oscar) 2010 and the Golden Globe 2010. Director: Michael Hoffman

Children’s Events

For the top classes of children at local primary schools (St Peters C of E School, Otterton C of E School, and Drake’s, East Budleigh) there will be an afternoon performance by Carol Ann Duffy and John Sampson. The event will be hosted by St Peters C of E School.

BABY BOUNCE AND RHYME for under-3s and their families or carers.

STORIES FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES read by well-known local author Jan Oke.

CARICATURE WORKSHOP for 10-12 year olds run by Neil Rogers.
