Liza Klaussmann

Liza Klaussmann was born in New York and now lives in London. Her debut novel, Tigers in Red Weather, was a Sunday Times bestseller and received blanket praise from critics and readers. Stylist magazine described it as ‘a riveting, intelligent read’ whilst the Sunday Telegraph called it ‘a delicious pleasure.’ A lover of classic American fiction, Liza wrote her MA thesis on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Tender is The Night.

Liza’s new novel, Villa America, is a gorgeous story that focuses on Gerald and Sara Murphy; the couple that inspired Tender is The Night. Written with exquisite poise, it chronicles Gerald and Sara’s story from their lonely childhoods and secret courtship to their debauched parties, legendary hospitality and devastating tragedies. Set on the French Riviera throughout the 1920s, Villa America, focuses on the couple’s coastal oasis and the guests that visited them, including Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Ernest and Hadley Hemingway, Linda and Cole Porter and Pablo Picasso.

Join us to hear Liza in conversation with fellow author and journalist Erica Wagner.
