Poldark, Ross Poldark

First published seventy years ago, Winston Graham’s Poldark novels depicted a Cornwall of rugged coastlines and smugglers coves, windswept moors and tin mines. Adapted into a television series in the mid 1970s, the novels were recently adapted again by scriptwriter Debbie Horsfield into a hugely popular, eight part drama for the BBC.

In this special Festival event, Debbie Horsfield and Andrew Graham, Winston Graham’s son and consultant on the series, will discuss the challenge of bringing Poldark back to life. They’ll also explore why they think Winston’s stories of 18th century Cornwall have endured so long and what actors Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson have brought to the roles of Ross Poldark and Demelza .

Delighted to announce that Heida Reed & Ruby Bentall will be joining us for our special Poldark event on Friday, chaired by Erica Wagner.
